I am Derek Baker, founder of Progressive Rider Training. My passion for all things biker-related began in childhood, inspired by family and friends who were bikers.
Since 2008, I have been delivering advanced motorcycle rider training through Kidderminster Advanced Bikers, where I serve as the Chief Observer and a Masters Mentor for IAMRoadSmart, the UK’s leading road safety organisation. I've been fortunate enough to enjoy a career in the automotive industry, which has included experience with both motorbikes and cars.
In my earlier years, I participated in short circuit racing as a club racer, initially in the Production Open Class (Proddy-racing) before progressing to fully raced prepared Yamaha TZ250s. However, my focus has now shifted to being a road rider, coach, and instructor.
At Progressive Rider Training, we specialise in comprehensive motorcycle rider training to help individuals with a full motorcycle license enhance their skills and confidence on the road. Our Enhanced Rider Scheme is designed for those who have recently passed their test, are “born-again bikers,” or are facing specific challenges in their riding. We provide on-the-road guidance and personalised instruction to help you develop essential skills to identify and react to developing hazards, often encountered at high speed.
