Hello,
I am Derek Baker, founder of Progressive Rider Training. I have a passion for all things “biker” related, having been involved with motorcycles for as long as I can remember, sparked during my childhood, by family and friends who were bikers.
I have been delivering advanced motorcycle training since 2008 through Kidderminster Advanced Bikers, where I am the Chief Observer and a Masters Mentor for IAMRoadSmart, the UK’s leading road safety organisation. I have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed a career in the automotive industry since leaving school, including both cars and motorbikes.
In my earlier years, I raced on short circuits as a club-racer, starting out in the Production Open Class (“Proddy-racing”) before moving onto fully raced prepped Yamaha TZ250s. However, I am now purely a road rider, coach, and instructor.
At Progressive Rider Training, we specialise in providing comprehensive training to help riders with a full motorcycle license improve their skills and confidence on the road.
Whether you have recently passed your test, are a “born-again-biker,” or are struggling with specific aspects of your riding, we can help you improve through on-the-road guidance and personalised instruction. We ensure that you develop the necessary skills to identify (and importantly react accordingly) to developing hazards, which often occur at high speed.
